Captiva Island has a host of exciting activities for guests of all ages. This 300 acre preserve offers an abundance of wild life watching, shelling  and is a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts. For those more active visitors sailing, kayaking, water skiing, snorkeling and bike riding are just some of the fun things to do! For those that are looking for a Caribbean feel beach hideaway but want to stay within the North American mainland  then Captiva  boasts that Caribbean climate and lifestyle.  As the crow fly's your only 400 or so miles from Cuba  and between  Captiva Island and Sanibel Island you will find  12 artificial reefs. All that being said Captiva visitors are primarily coming for the secluded, unspoiled beaches that we have become world renowned for. If you are looking for busy, packed beaches and lots of traffic then Capativa Island may not be the destination for you. Captiva beaches are sparsely populated primarily due to the beaches being utilized by local residents and visitors with very little in terms of day seekers! Parking is somewhat hidden so those visitors not residing on the Island tend to visit the Naples beaches. When booking a vacation rental on Captiva (pretty much the only accommodation options) you will always be close to the beach. That being said its important to discuss prior to booking the exact beach proximity from your rental. Emerald Kite has been bringing visitors to Captiva Island for over 15 years and has a stellar reputation. They provide FREE concierge service from the accommodation selection stage through your stay and until your safe return home.
