Set amid a quintessential Carmel-by-the-Sea landscape—think curving branches framing rugged headlands and peaceful bays—the home has the pitched roof of a chalet and the glass walls of a modernist retreat. Drive 5 minutes or walk into town to shop boutiques in cottage-like buildings. On sunny California days, outdoor living spaces with sitting and dining areas, plenty of loungers, and a gas barbecue beckon. On cooler evenings, watch the stars come out from around the firepit or cozy up to the gas fireplace inside as you watch a show on the smart TV and share holiday photos over Wi-Fi. While this luxury property is newly built, its design draws inspiration from decades of mountain lodges and mid-century style. A partial wall of glass and cathedral ceiling flood the living room with light, and oversized artwork draws the eye to the fireplace. The layout flows into a dining area in a glassed-in corner, and from there, into a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar. The villa is a 5-minute drive from downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, with everything from clothing shops to jewelers to antiques, and Monastery Beach, a wonderful spot for walking (but not safe for swimming).
