Haleiwa is also well known for its many restaurants and popular shops. The North Shore is commonly referred to as a Mecca for the world's best surfers who make their annual pilgrimage to it's pristine, awe inspiring beaches. The most famous wave on earth, the absolutely mesmerizing Banzai Pipeline is about 10 miles away and warrants spending a day at the beach taking in its awe inspiring power. If your timing is impeccable, nearby Waimea Bay may be breaking if the swell is large enough. Having a picnic on the beach and watching some of the biggest waves on earth break nearby is an absolute must during the winter months! In the summer months, the waves are generally smaller which makes it perfect for snorkeling or other exciting ocean activities.
