You’ll discover enormous open-plan rooms, designer furniture, and antiques coming together beneath wooden-beamed ceilings to create a welcoming, calming atmosphere. Let the contemporary artworks and oil paintings catch your eye as you walk through the home, heading up to one of the shady bedrooms (we’d call dibs on the master suite with its high arched windows and decadent bathroom) to unpack and change for dinner. Whether you go to one of the gourmet neighborhood restaurants or rustle up a simple supper to eat on the patio before a dip in the private pool, is entirely up to you.
Home to the Hamptons Classic and Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge, Bridgehampton is a lively scene for the equine elite. Sporty meets seaside at this pastoral hamlet, where classic farmhouses and barn stables rise out of long grasses, and cultivated farmland breaks away into the beach-flanked ocean with some of the most expensive homes in the world. While the beaches here are smaller than some of the other Hamptons’ towns, they tend to get less of a crowd and share more of a local feel – take your pick from Scott Cameron, Ocean Road, or Mecox Beach. In town, you’ll find a selection of exercise classes, antique stores, galleries, and boutiques. You’ll also find incredible farm stands with fresh berries, vegetables, and flowers from fields you’ve just biked by – Bridgehampton may be one of the ritziest parts of The Hamptons, but it keeps its down-to-earth rural character with mom and pop shops and sprawling fields.
